Prepare for HIPAA Audits: Privacy and Security Checklists and Free HIPAA Consultations

Recent news reports as well as a report from the Office of the Inspector General indicate that the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has chosen a vendor and plans to move forward with phase II of its audit program of covered entities and business associates.

This is an excellent time for health care providers to revisit HIPAA Compliance to ensure that all of the HIPAA Privacy and Security regulatory requirements are being addressed.

Our firm has prepared two checklists for health care providers to use to assess their HIPAA Compliance activities.  The checklists are broad in nature and do not address the details of all of the HIPAA Privacy and Security requirements, but can be helpful to identify potential areas where a provider’s current policies and compliance efforts may be falling short.

The checklists are accessible on the Resources Tab of our website or by clicking the following links:

HIPAA Privacy Compliance Checklist for Physician Practices and Small Entities

HIPAA Security Compliance Checklist for Physician Practices and Small Entities

We also have links to many helpful resources on our HIPAA Resources Page

If you have questions about the checklists or your HIPAA policies and would like to discuss with one of our HIPAA attorneys, we are currently scheduling free 15 minute consultations.  Free consultations can be scheduled by sending a request through our Contact page.
